and the chance to dunk a teacher. Tickets and pizza
will be available for advance ordering, and proceeds

Flyers will come home soon with more information.
Please contact Carol Moore if you can volunteer; we

ActivBoards revolutionize teaching at River Eves.
Oct 01, 2008 08:55 AM
River Eves has purchased 15 ActivBoards over the past
two years -- and PTA has funded seven of them! What
are they and why make this investment? An ActivBoard
looks like a large whiteboard that doesn't use dry
erase markers, but it is so much more. It is a PC, a
VCR, a flipchart, a PowerPoint, a DVD player, an
interactive lesson with students, a center during
class, an Internet connection, a TV for special
events, and more.
Can you imaging showing a DVD of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., pausing the DVD during "I Have a Dream," changing to the PC in two clicks where there is a flipchart or a website showing a fact you want to highlight, then switching back to the DVD to continue where you stopped -- and having an interactive quiz afterward? The kids absolutely love the ActivBoard environment. It's entertaining and interactive.
ActivBoards are only one tool in our teachers' arsenal and won't replace reading, writing and other traditional teaching methods, but PTA is thrilled to help bring this technology into the classroom to assist in our kids' education.
